Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a Master's level Unlicensed Therapist, Licensed Therapist, or Psychologist to join our School-Based Services team. This part-time position serves Cherry Creek School District and focuses on supporting students' mental health and well-being.

About the role

As a School-Based Therapist, you will build meaningful relationships with students while providing essential therapeutic services in a school setting. Work alongside a dedicated team committed to meeting students' needs with compassion, creativity, and expertise. This role requires someone highly resourceful, organized, and capable of building relationships in new environments while working independently.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate recovery and optimal quality of life for clients with behavioral health concerns through clinical services, case management, and education.
  • Collaborate with clients to create and carry out a consistent treatment plan, from intake and assessment to closure.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments, as well as individual, family, and/or group therapy with assigned clients.
  • Develop and monitor treatment plans; update at required intervals.
  • Consult with internal and external professionals and collaterals to ensure access to needed services and proactive coordination of care.
  • Provide clinical case-management services and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Deliver comprehensive clinical services designed to decrease symptoms and improve quality of life.
  • Assist clients in evaluating strengths and symptoms, and setting their own goals.
  • Guide and instruct clients in coping skills.
  • Offer consultation to community partners and providers.
  • Write reports and other correspondence as necessary, with appropriate releases.
  • Complete all requests to provide necessary information and undertake required activities to ensure timely and ongoing credentialing with third-party payers.
  • Monitor and coordinate care for assigned clients in partnership with other members of the clients' care team.
  • Provide wellness activities and consult with teachers and staff to support students' overall well-being.
  • Document services in a timely manner and meet billable service standards.

Requirements

  • Unlicensed Therapist or Psychologist:
    • Master’s or Doctoral degree in professional counseling from a program accredited by CACREP or CSWE.
    • Must obtain a mental health Candidate Permit (e.g., LPCC, PSYC, MFTC, SWC/LSW) within 30 days of hire and actively pursue an independent clinical license (LPC, LP, LMFT, or LCSW).
    • AMHR will provide quality supervision for clinical hours towards licensure at no cost to the employee.
    • Preferred: At least one year of clinical experience providing care to the appropriate client population, including diagnosing, conducting intake assessments, and delivering individual, family, or group therapy.
  • Licensed Therapist or Psychologist:
    • At least two years of clinical experience providing care, including conducting individual, family, and/or group therapy.
    • Professional licensure: LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or Licensed Psychologist (PhD, PSYD).
    • Knowledge of theories and evidence-based practices related to clinical treatment.
    • Ability to learn and utilize an electronic health record with proficiency.
    • Solid understanding of mental illness and treatment modalities within a multidisciplinary approach.
    • Knowledge of DSM-5.
    • Ability to understand and effectively respond to all client presentations and crisis situations.
    • Ability to document interactions with clients, other agencies, and mental health professionals.
  • Experience in trauma treatment and working with diverse student populations is ideal.

Schedule

  • Shift: Tuesday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, fully onsite/in-person.
  • Duration: 10 months during the school year, paid over 12 months.
  • Time Off: Paid time off during all school breaks (fall, winter, spring, and summer—including the whole month of July off).

Pay

  • Unlicensed Therapist: $27.11 - $35.24 per hour.
  • Licensed Therapist: $29.73 - $40.09 per hour.
  • Unlicensed Psychologist: $30.83 - $36.76 per hour.
  • Licensed Psychologist: $43.82 - $52.24 per hour.
  • Bilingual Language Differential Pay: $3,000 per calendar year (prorated based on hire date and FTE), paid bi-weekly for employees who pass a language assessment.

Required Vaccination and TB Test

AMHR requires all employees to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and negative TB test results prior to their first day of hire. Proof of the current, annual flu shot and negative TB test will be required upon your first day of employment. Medical or religious exemption may be requested for the annual flu shot.
