About the Role
This position supports the department’s clinical, operational, and administrative needs with a focus on excellence in patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems.
- Actively participate in the treatment planning process.
- Provide family session counseling to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups.
- Communicate proactively with clients, families, and outside referral sources.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, utilization review, and nursing staff.
- Effectively communicate treatment and length-of-stay (LOS) issues to utilization review.
- Complete accurate and timely client paperwork, including assessments and documentation in accordance with hospital standards.
- Demonstrate crisis intervention and de-escalation skills; assist in team responses to crisis situations to ensure patient safety.
- Assist the care coordination department as requested.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and clinical regulations (e.g., TJC, Medicaid, state, and federal laws).
- Complete releases appropriately and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Actively participate in discharge, transition, and after-care planning processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or equivalent required.
- Current clinical or social work license as required by state regulations.
- CPR and de-escalation certification required (or obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.
