Therapist, Inpatient (PRN)

About the Role

This position supports the department’s clinical, operational, and administrative needs with a focus on excellence in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems.
• Actively participate in the treatment planning process.
• Provide family session counseling to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups.
• Communicate proactively with clients, families, and outside referral sources.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, utilization review, and nursing staff.
• Effectively communicate treatment and length-of-stay (LOS) issues to utilization review.
• Complete accurate and timely client paperwork, including assessments and documentation in accordance with hospital standards.
• Demonstrate crisis intervention and de-escalation skills; assist in team responses to crisis situations to ensure patient safety.
• Assist the care coordination department as requested.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and clinical regulations (e.g., TJC, Medicaid, state, and federal laws).
• Complete releases appropriately and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
• Actively participate in discharge, transition, and after-care planning processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or equivalent required.
• Current clinical or social work license as required by state regulations.
• CPR and de-escalation certification required (or obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.
