About the Role

Provide direct mental health clinical assessments and treatment to individuals and families experiencing a high level of mental health needs. Work with others in a shelter environment to help individuals move toward recovery. Services include individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and case management using trauma-informed interventions. This position serves multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Obtain information about participants through interviews, case histories, and observational techniques.
• Conduct counseling or therapeutic treatments in individual or group sessions to assist participants in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning actions reflecting their interests, abilities, and needs.
• Act as an advocate for participants and/or participant systems when appropriate.
• Develop treatment plans, monitor treatment progress, and follow up at disposition times.
• Identify and provide clinical services to those experiencing comorbidity with mental/behavioral health and/or substance use.
• Assist participants with psychological and social development.
• Perform appropriate case management based on accepted standards and program policies.
• Assist with 27-10 (M-1) “mental health hold” evaluations under licensed clinical supervision.
• Document participant contacts and progress in accordance with accepted charting standards.
• Establish and maintain relationships with referral sources and community agents.
• Participate in clinical supervision, consultation, and staff training as required.
• Support, promote, and adhere to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics.
• Use creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
• Maintain confidentiality of participant and agency information.
• Participate in Division and agency events/initiatives.
• Act as a good steward of Agency human, financial, and capital resources.
• Participate effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing, and problem-solving.
• Participate in staff trainings and programs as required.
• Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years’ experience in clinical social work or a related field.
• Experience working with moderate to severe and persistently mentally ill populations.
• Master's Degree in social work, psychology, or a similar field.
• Current license as a LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the State of Colorado.
• Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of methods of psychotherapy and community resources.
• Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately.
• Familiarity with the DSM V, ICD-10, and diagnostic techniques.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care principles/practices.
• Ability to establish rapport with participants.
• Flexible and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of computers to input data, write communications, and generate reports.
• Demonstrated skills and sensitivity to cultural/linguistic differences of staff, participants, and community.
• Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and appropriate techniques for the participant population.
• Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and a diverse participant base.

Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• License-eligible master’s degree in social work, professional counseling, or marriage & family therapy.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of insurance required.
