Responsibilities

• Assess the therapeutic goals and objectives related to each client and provides client specific therapeutic recreational activities in order to help the client develop in knowledge, abilities, social skills and emotional functioning.
• Consult to and collaborate with the Therapeutic Recreation team, and as appropriate, plan for normalized recreational and leisure activities and experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreational Therapy
• Completed 560-hour internship or six months related experience
• First Aid and CPR certifications
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License with good driving record

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals who have serious emotional, mental and behavioral health challenges
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and practices
• Ability to adapt recreational activities to meet individual needs
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
