Therapeutic Day Treatment Counselor TDT
Position Overview
You will work inside Loudoun County Public Schools providing structured therapeutic support to students who have mental, emotional, or behavioral needs. You’ll help them build coping skills, regulate emotions, stay engaged in the classroom, and feel supported at school and at home.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily emotional support, behavioral coaching, and skill-building to students
- Work closely with teachers, school social workers, and administrators to support student needs
- Communicate with families and keep them involved in the treatment process
- Absorb students during moments of crisis and help them stabilize using positive strategies
- Participate in school meetings, treatment planning, and team discussions
- Maintain accurate documentation of daily services and progress
- Attend required supervision, staff meetings, and professional development
- Represent Tree of Life Family Services in a professional, positive, and collaborative way
Qualifications
- Must be eligible or registered as a QMHP or QMHP trainee in Virginia
- Comfortable working directly with children and supporting them emotionally and behaviorally
- Comfortable working with teachers, school social workers, and families
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Able to build rapport while maintaining healthy boundaries
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to any Loudoun County Public School
- Must be available to work during school hours: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Able to adjust to changing school needs and maintain organized documentation
Schedule
This is a school-based role. All services take place during the school day between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position follows the LCPS academic calendar, with summer hours varying depending on program needs.

Compensation
$22.00 - $26.00 per hour
