About the role

The Therapeutic Associate is responsible for providing constant supervision and oversight of patients with diverse mental, emotional and/or developmental conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide constant supervision and oversight of patients with diverse mental, emotional and/or developmental conditions
  • Bridging the gap between inpatient and outpatient services, the PHP day treatment program is designed to help encourage success in symptom management and recovery
  • Collaborate with patients and their families using therapeutic interventions, education and monitoring
  • Support patients’ ability to manage themselves at home through structured treatment at a less acute level than inpatient hospitalization

Requirements

  • BCLS certification
  • CPI certification
  • Equipment/Work Aides: Computer, Patient Records, Reports

Qualifications

  • Nonessential: Crisis Prevention and Intervention Certification
  • Education with Equivalent Qualifications: Nonessential - Bachelors of Science or Arts in Psychology or Masters Degree in Psychology
  • Experience with Equivalent Qualifications: Nonessential - 2 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Behavioral Counseling

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of mental health and behavioral health principles

Schedule

The Therapeutic Associate works a flexi PRN schedule, specifically on the Day Shift, Monday through Friday.

About the location

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is located at the Arlington Building in Birmingham, Alabama. It is best suited for patients 12 – 18 years old with a primary diagnosis of behavioral or mental health concerns and who have been medically stabilized, but would benefit from and thrive with more constant, comprehensive involvement. Primary diagnoses of substance abuse, eating disorders or autism are not eligible for admission to the PHP. Each patient attends for 6 hours each day Monday – Friday.
