Therapeutic Activities Worker - Warren State Hospital (2nd Shift)

About the role

This position develops and leads therapeutic and educational activities that support consumer treatment and recovery at Warren State Hospital. The role helps individuals build skills, confidence, and healthy routines to incorporate into their everyday lives.

Responsibilities

• Therapeutic Programming: Create and conduct activity sessions across living units, recovery programs, and designated hospital areas
• Patient Assessment: Complete admission assessments, reassessments, and progress documentation for all assigned individuals
• Activity Assignment: Match consumers with suitable recreation activities based on interviews, assessments, and treatment team input
• Team Collaboration: Attend treatment team meetings, provide input on individualized goals, and support methodologies for consumer progress
• Equipment Management: Maintain supplies, repair items, and ensure safe and ready materials for therapeutic activity areas

Schedule

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week
• Work hours are 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch
• Rotating schedule
• Travel and overtime may be required as needed
• No telework option available

Pay

Free parking provided. Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.

Requirements

Minimum Experience and Training

• Four years of experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities; or
• A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation; physical education; vocational rehabilitation; vocational education or counseling; art, music, dance, or occupational therapies; or a related human services field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

• Must be able to perform essential job functions

• A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening and medical examination
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act
• Conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance
