About the role

This is a position we anticipate filling for future semesters. Specific part-time teaching needs for future semesters may not be known until the end of class registration.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student learning and participate in efforts to improve student success.
  • Teach Introduction to Theatre, Fundamentals of Acting, Acting II, and other similar classes as the curriculum changes.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards of the profession and maintain licensure and certifications.
  • Establish and maintain collegial relationships with students, peers, staff, and administrators.
  • Plan and implement lessons based on division and college objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Utilize computer applications and integrate them into teaching.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or MFA in Theatre, Dramatic Arts, Acting, or similar field.
  • Demonstrated experience in acting, directing, producing, and/or technical theatre work.
  • Innovative, flexible, and positive teaching style.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collegial relationships with students, peers, staff, and administrators.
  • Experience utilizing online support materials.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Higher education teaching experience.
  • Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission, and philosophy.
  • Interest in developing extra-curricular educational opportunities for students, such as guest lecturers, field trips, performances, etc.
  • Active as an actor, director, or in technical theatre roles.
  • Experience utilizing online support materials (i.e., digital resources).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Skills

  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
  • Ability to integrate computer applications into teaching.

Pay

$1,124 per contact hour

Schedule

While part-time faculty are not required to hold regular office hours during the semesters they teach, they are required to make provisions for student consultations as may be necessary and reasonable.
