About the Role

The Student Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Theatre Arts department Administrative Support Coordinator, who will delegate day-to-day tasks and duties for the department. The primary purpose of the job is to assist the Theatre Arts department office by being the first point of contact for visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Theatre Arts department with day-to-day office operations.
  • Provide general office support such as greeting visitors (students, faculty, guests), answering phones/taking messages, restocking supplies, distributing mail, posting flyers, and delivering/picking up documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including organizing files, distributing locks for department lockers, and delivering packages to department shops.
  • Assist the department Administrative Support Coordinator with projects such as archiving files and cataloging resources.

Requirements

  • Admission or registration as a CSU student.
  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Enrolled in at least half-time units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate).
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate).
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Social Security Card required for payroll.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work, follow oral instructions, work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students, and communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written).
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, and demonstrates initiative.
  • Dependable, punctual, and responsible.
  • Able to work well with others as well as independently.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working with students/faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying ages.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficient computer skills.
  • Maintain a preferred 2.7 G.P.A. or greater.

Pay

Anticipated hiring range: $16.90 - $17.00 per hour. The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Schedule

  • Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
  • Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

This is a part-time, temporary, seasonal position. Student employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.
