The Original Philly's
About the Restaurant
The Original Philly’s is owned by Guy, a Philadelphia native, alongside Charles and Minerva Humphrie, who founded the restaurant in 1994. Guy, originally from the corporate world, moved to Seattle in 2003 to help open a Philadelphia-style restaurant and discovered his passion for the business. His goal was to bring an authentic Philly cheesesteak to the Pacific Northwest, and he has since built a loyal customer base in the diverse MLK & Rainier neighborhood.
Guy enjoys the vibrant community, serving Franklin High School students, light rail commuters, and regulars. The restaurant is known for its authenticity, with Guy emphasizing, “I’m from Philly and know how to make it right.” The Original Philly’s also operates a mobile food van for events, game days, and festivals.
Participating in Plate of Nations has been a great way for Guy to meet new customers, who often praise the food and service. One customer said, “I love the sandwiches! This stuff is amazing. Super friendly, I’ll be back. Hard to find a good Philly on this coast.” Another added, “Don’t change anything! Excellent food and people.”
