Free traveling exhibit will be on display October 19 through November 4, with a special LGBTQ+ history talk on October 22. PEORIA, IL — Central Illinois Friends is proud to share that The Legacy Wall, a one-of-a-kind traveling LGBTQ+ history exhibit, will be on display at Bradley University’s Cullom-Davis Library from October 19 through November 4, 2026. The exhibit is free and open to the public, offering community members an opportunity to explore the lives, stories, and historical contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals across more than 20 distinct fields. Featuring individual mini-biographies, photographs, and historical information, The Legacy Wall highlights people whose accomplishments and experiences have helped shape history. The exhibit provides an opportunity to recognize LGBTQ+ contributions, expand public understanding, and celebrate the importance of representation and inclusion. As part of the exhibit, community members are invited to attend a special LGBTQ+ History Talk on Thursday, October 22, at 6 p.m. The discussion will offer an additional opportunity to engage with LGBTQ+ history and learn more about the stories and experiences represented throughout the exhibit. “LGBTQI+ History is human history; it has been purposefully cut out of historic archives, books, and teachings for far too long,” said Deric Kimler of Central Illinois Friends. The exhibit is presented in collaboration with Bradley University’s Cullom-Davis Library, Department of History, Women’s and Gender Studies Program, Department of Sociology, Criminology, and Social Work, Queer Coalition, Bradley University Archives, the Virginius H. Chase Special Collections Center, PFLAG, and Youth Outlook.
