About the role

This position is located at our beautiful 102-room Toftrees Golf Resort in State College, Pennsylvania. Meaning "home among the trees," Toftrees is nestled within 1,500 scenic wooded acres in the heart of Centre County, offering guests a relaxing resort experience with exceptional hospitality and award-winning amenities. The resort features distinctive guestrooms and suites, an outdoor heated pool, fitness center, 11 versatile meeting and event spaces, and a championship golf course with a driving range and putting green. Guests can enjoy dining at The Field Burger & Tap, known for its award-winning burgers and varied menu.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended, properly and safely.
  • Establish, maintain, and train standards and procedures for operations and safe working conditions in the department.
  • Assist with training employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Handle guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in designated outlets in accordance with standards and plating guide specifications.
  • Assist with the direction, training, and monitoring performance of kitchen staff.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience as a line cook; prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers.
  • High school graduate or equivalent; certification of culinary training preferred.
  • Safe food handling certificate.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as B.E.O.'s, safety rules, procedure manuals.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
