Responsibilities
- Writing a minimum of 2 articles per week throughout the Fall 2026 semester
- Attending 1-2 weekly section meetings to pitch stories and ask questions
- Attending 1 monthly All Staff meeting
- Maintaining an understanding of news occurring across campus and the city
- Working with photographers and videographers to boost article engagement
- Developing relationships with members of the UT community
- Communicating with the News Editor and Asst. News Editor daily to provide updates on story progress
- Meting concrete deadlines to keep up with a fast-paced newsroom environment
- Attending launchpads and information sessions to strengthen writing and reporting skills
Qualifications
- A strong understanding of journalistic writing and AP style
- Experience in communication, timeliness and current events
