Spheros Environmental is seeking a Water Resources Marketing Lead to support its growing South Central region practice, which includes operations in Texas and Oklahoma. The market lead would have proven expertise in developing business opportunities in water resources planning and development, surface and groundwater water quality management or related areas. This person would play a critical, outward-facing role, building upon Spheros’ technical excellence to advance market reputation and business growth. This person will position Spheros for business opportunities and enhance Spheros’ visibility through industry conferences, forums and professional networks. They will implement Spheros’ strategy and vision to bring in broader services and practice areas to existing and new clients in the South-Central region.

Success Metrics

Success in this role is measured by impact on expanding Spheros’ range of services and clients offered in the South-Central region. This includes achieving sales targets, contributing to expansion of the range of services in the South-Central region revenue contribution, external visibility at conferences and professional engagement.

Marketing and Business Development

  • Leverages professional networks to identify and develop new business opportunities in the South-Central region (Texas, Oklahoma or other neighboring states).
  • Develops and implements long-term marketing strategies based on direction from regional and executive leadership.
  • Meets sales and revenue targets.
  • Works with market sector leads and other practice areas to identify opportunities to cross-sell Spheros services to existing and new clients.
  • Support pursuit teams by shaping technical narratives and value propositions.
  • Attends conferences, public meetings and other relevant forums to advertise Spheros’ capabilities and generate business leads and project opportunities.
  • Expand Spheros’ current network of teaming partners including engineering and architecture firms, environmental consulting firms, academics, drillers, laboratories and other related service vendors to position Spheros for new business opportunities.
  • Actively track regional and national proposal requests from existing and new public and private sector clients and identify high likelihood pursuits and lead proposal development efforts with practice area lead and subject matter experts.
  • Track regulatory and resource management initiatives in the region and position Spheros for opportunities that may emerge from such initiatives.
  • Periodically develop a market analysis identifying Spheros’ strengths in existing and emerging market sectors, and present business development strategies to maintain or expand the firms market share.

Technical Leadership and Client Engagement

  • Act as a trusted technical resource to key clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in client meetings, project strategy discussions, and critical technical negotiations.
  • Strengthen long-term client relationships through credibility, insight, and thought leadership.
  • Take a leadership role in understanding Spheros’ service offerings and other SMEs.

Mentorship and Knowledge Development

  • Mentor mid-level and senior staff on business development and entrepreneurial strategies.
  • Provide informal coaching and guidance without formal supervisory or performance management responsibilities.
  • Support internal training initiatives and communities of practice.
  • Help to ensure teams are following company and safety standards.
  • Possess a desire for lifelong learning.

Financial Acumen

  • Understand different pricing strategies (i.e., T&M, Fixed Fee, Value Pricing, etc.), revenue contribution, return on investment, retained earnings, and sales goals.
  • Possesses sound judgment to gauge likelihood of financial success of potential opportunities based on scope elements, technical depth and client needs.
  • Understand Spheros’ strategic objectives and be able to communicate these to clients and external audiences.
  • Contribute to strategic acquisitions or investment strategies in the region for expanding Spheros’ service areas and geographical footprint.

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 15 years of progressive professional experience in environmental and/or water resources consulting as a seller-doer and/or a marketing lead.
  • Education: A BA or BS degree in environmental science, water resources engineering, water resources planning and management, hydrology, geology, hydrogeology, or related field. (Master's degree preferred)
  • Professional Engineer or Geologist registration (desired).
