Test Technician (Jumpers)
Position Summary
Carry out procedural tests on production, engineering, and qualification products, including incoming materials necessary to meet customer needs. Responsible for using all electrical, mechanical, and optical test equipment, test fixtures, and procedures. Must understand basic electronics, electrical theories, and Ohm’s law. Troubleshoot setup and product issues independently. Maintain knowledge of 802.3 Ethernet standards. Ensure security for all quality verification equipment and its calibration control. Report errors on procedures, drawings, bills of material, and router to support teams (Quality, Manufacturing Engineering). Complete documentation (shop packs and FATs) accurately and promptly. Enter data into the IFS system accurately and promptly. Maintain high quality standards and workmanship. Communicate effectively with all departments within the company. Maintain a safe working environment.
Education And Experience
- Two year technical degree or equivalent military training or recent job experience in an electrical or electronics manufacturing environment.
- Recent experience in hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Recent experience handling fiber optic related products.
Job Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Work safely with minimal or no direct supervision.
- Adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Follow verbal directions and apply a common sense approach to troubleshooting.
- Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
- Use electrical/mechanical test equipment such as Meggers, Ohm-meters, pressure gauges, dial calipers.
- Read technical drawings, electrical schematics, specifications, and procedures.
- Use optical test equipment.
- Take constructive criticism from peers, leaders, and managers.
- Use MS Office programs like Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Perform shop math calculations.
