Test Engineer Senior / Specialist / Principal
About the role
D451 Engineering is an integral part of Electric Boat's New Construction business, providing engineering support for submarine construction, testing, and post-shakedown support. The group consists of four distinct groups supporting submarine construction: Reactor Plant Electrical, Non-Propulsion Electrical Engineering, Propulsion Plant Electrical Engineering, and Instrumentation, Design & Test.
Responsibilities
- Planning of submarine upgrade, troubleshooting, and repair work, including development of troubleshooting courses of action and writing / peer reviewing technical work documents.
- Interpretation and translation of shipbuilding specifications, technical manual procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Deck-plate support and resolution of emergent issues.
- Ability to work in a shipyard environment and onboard ships.
- Development of technical rationale to support approval of nonconforming conditions.
- Collaboration with engineers of other disciplines, including mechanical, nuclear, and structural.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 Years Experience working in Electrical Engineering
Qualifications
A hands-on, proactive, deadline-driven engineering approach is the norm. Awareness and understanding of military specifications, submarine shipbuilding specifications, and design criteria, USN maintenance/overhaul requirements, and special emphasis programs are developed through mentoring and training.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional travel, evening, weekend, and overtime work required based on department needs.
