Test Engineer II - Gas Turbine Systems
Responsibilities
- Cook up the maintenance, repair, and upgrades of various gas turbine system test facilities to ensure they’re always ready for action.
- Design, fabricate, and install test equipment into the existing test facility.
- Plan, execute, and report on gas turbine component and sub-assembly tests.
- Provide technical content, technical commitments, and associated cost and schedule for all proposals or change orders (internal or external).
- Collaborate with peer groups and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) to improve and utilize shared resources (people, equipment, and facilities).
Qualifications
- MUST HAVE: At least 1.5 years Engineering (Mechanical, Test, Project) and/or Test experience (hands-on).
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
- The ability to work off-shift (2nd and 3rd shift) on a temporary basis – Shifts may change depending on the test under execution.
- Gas turbine rig and component testing experience.
- Capital program planning and execution experience.
- Strong background and experience in defining a test program plan to achieve development risk reduction requirements within budget and schedule constraints.
- Experience with Gas Turbine Components and sub-assembly Test Facilities and equipment required to operate them.
- Experience with Control Systems, especially facility control system and transient behaviors of test systems.
- Demonstrated ability to execute quickly under strict schedule constraints while still achieving technical objectives.
- Comfortable working on many projects at the same time.
- Able to identify the critical few issues on any effort and drive them to resolution to assure success.
- Skilled in creating order and structure in an uncertain or ambiguous environment.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, time management, decision making, analytical, conflict resolution and customer management skills.
- Good mentoring skills and ability to effectively influence others.
- Skilled in identifying and driving transformational/cultural improvement and results.
About the Role
Join a high-performing team responsible for designing, developing, and executing advanced testing solutions across our Engines & Power Systems portfolio. In this role, you will play a critical part in the development and certification of next-generation gas turbine engines. Working alongside engineers and technicians, you will take ownership of testing activities across Compressor, combustor, turbine, component and core engine test facilities. Your work will directly support our mission to deliver accurate, high-quality data to customers—right the first time. You will also help maintain and improve test facilities and processes that enable product development, certification, and long-term support across the full Engines & Power Systems product line.
