About the role

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Test Engineer to validate the software and hardware systems that power its autonomous vehicles. In this role, you'll execute structured testing on dynamometer systems and electrical test assets to validate software releases before deployment to vehicles. You'll analyze test results, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, maintain lab infrastructure, and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure releases meet rigorous quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on test and validation engineer with experience in electromechanical systems, HIL environments, and electrical lab equipment. You are analytical, methodical, and comfortable troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute manual and automated test plans on dynamometer systems and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) electrical test assets to validate software releases.
  • Perform functional, regression, and integration testing in support of software release cycles.
  • Monitor, record, and analyze test data to identify anomalies, failures, and performance trends.
  • Partner with software, hardware, and systems engineers to reproduce issues, investigate root causes, and verify fixes.
  • Document test procedures, results, defects, and findings clearly and accurately.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot dynamometer and electrical test infrastructure and develop automation to improve reliability and uptime.
  • Improve lab testing processes, tooling, and automation.
  • Manage test asset configurations and track hardware and software build states.
  • Execute software flashing procedures for electronic control units (ECUs) and other programmable components.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in test, validation, or integration engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with electromechanical system and subsystem integration and testing.
  • Experience with HIL systems such as dSPACE, CANoe, LabVIEW, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in an R&D electronics environment or electrical testing lab.
  • Experience executing and documenting structured test plans.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience using electronic lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, programmable power supplies, chillers, accelerometers, and torque sensors.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced lab environment with evolving hardware and software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for test automation.
  • Experience with the Linux command-line interface and filesystem topology.
  • Experience with data acquisition tools and log analysis.
  • Ability to translate hardware and software requirements into actionable test cases.
  • Experience with axle-hub dynamometers.
  • Experience diagnosing CAN or Ethernet network issues.
