About the role
This position reports to: Testing & Laboratory Manager
Responsibilities
- Support product development and general lab activities while maintaining a safe and reliable test environment for all personnel and facilities.
- Apply sound engineering judgment and standard practices to improve test efficiency, effectiveness, and overall customer satisfaction.
- Develop and execute test automation solutions to ensure products meet all design specifications and comply with validation, verification, quality, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with automation engineers to support test development using NI LabVIEW and PLC programming.
- Execute automated testing in compliance with ABB’s internal requirements and applicable industry standards (UL, CSA, IEC).
- Support third-party certification audits and ensure all automated test systems comply with ISO 17025 requirements.
- Identify gaps in current test processes and implement robust, sustainable improvements.
- Contribute recommendations for future capital investments related to test automation and laboratory infrastructure.
- Document test programs, setups, procedures, and programming methodologies to ensure long-term maintainability and effective knowledge transfer.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive test reports for internal stakeholders and external certification bodies (e.g., UL, CSA, SGS).
- Support software updates and hardware upgrades to keep lab systems and test equipment current and fully functional.
- Provide technical testing support to product design and development teams throughout the development cycle.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or a related field), with at least 1 year of experience in test engineering and automation. Alternatively, Associate degree with 5 years of related experiences.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with NI LabVIEW, PLC programming, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DeviceNet, Profibus).
