Test Engineer A/Sr
Test Planning & Execution
The Test Engineer is responsible for developing, planning, and executing testing programs for industrial and automotive bearing products. This includes interpreting industry and customer standards to define test requirements, creating Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&Rs), and developing test procedures and work instructions. The role involves reviewing and approving test setups, coordinating testing activities, and supporting continuous improvement of testing methods and processes.
Test Tooling & Fixture Design
The Test Engineer designs custom test fixtures, adapters, and tooling using CATIA and/or SolidWorks. This includes creating detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and assembly documentation. The role also involves developing tooling solutions that ensure repeatable, reliable, and safe testing, and working with suppliers and fabrication vendors to support the manufacture and implementation of test tooling.
Test Equipment Development & Project Management
The Test Engineer identifies requirements for new testing capabilities and laboratory improvements. They write Statements of Requirements (SORs) for new test equipment and laboratory systems, design and develop custom test equipment, and utilize QuickBase to manage project workflows, schedules, documentation, action items, and project deliverables. The role involves leading the development of new test stands and laboratory improvement projects from concept through commissioning, coordinating activities with equipment vendors, fabrication suppliers, machine shops, and integrators, and supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), installation, and commissioning activities.
Equipment Troubleshooting & Laboratory Support
The Test Engineer troubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues affecting test equipment. They diagnose and resolve issues related to test setups, data collection systems, and laboratory operations, and support installation, setup, modification, and commissioning of test stands and laboratory equipment. The role also involves developing and implementing corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and testing efficiency, and providing hands-on technical support for laboratory operations as required.
