Primary Responsibilities
- Represent Bascom Hunter onsite during all qualification testing performed at Dayton T. Brown in Bohemia, NY.
- Learn Bascom Hunter's Environmental Control Systems, vapor-cycle systems, fan assemblies, motors, controllers, heat exchangers, compressors, and associated hardware.
- Become familiar with engineering drawings, ATPs, QTPs, qualification plans, system requirements, and configuration documentation.
- Participate in test readiness reviews and verify that test articles are correctly configured prior to testing.
- Witness all qualification testing and verify testing is performed in accordance with approved procedures.
- Maintain detailed daily test logs, photographs, observations, discrepancies, and action items.
- Provide daily status reports to Bascom Hunter engineering and program management.
- Identify test anomalies, failures, or procedural deviations and coordinate with Bascom Hunter engineering to resolve issues.
- Support troubleshooting activities during testing while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Verify configuration control throughout the qualification program, including serial numbers, instrumentation, software revisions, and hardware changes.
- Assist with discrepancy reports, test report generation, corrective actions, and final qualification documentation.
- Clock in with Dayton T. Brown personnel while serving as Bascom Hunter's onsite engineering representative.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- 0–5 years of engineering or engineering test experience.
- Must reside within commuting distance of Bohemia, New York, or be willing to relocate prior to the start of the assignment.
- Ability to travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for initial product training and occasional engineering reviews (less than 10% travel).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in laboratory and environmental test facilities.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting engineering development or qualification testing.
- Experience with aerospace or defense hardware.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, DO-160, or similar qualification standards.
- Experience using instrumentation including thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, power analyzers, tachometers, or data acquisition systems.
- Familiarity with configuration management and engineering change processes.
- Experience preparing technical reports, discrepancy reports, or engineering documentation.
- Hands-on experience with electromechanical systems, motors, fans, compressors, refrigeration systems, or environmental control systems.
