Test Developer

About the role

Hybrid contract‑to‑hire position converting to a regular role around the 6‑month point with an approximate annual salary of $70,000 (flexible). The candidate will administer, test, and query a home‑grown SQL Server environment built by the School of Nursing (SON) using primarily C# and Visual Basic. Visual Studio experience is a nice‑to‑have but not required. The role also involves handling ad‑hoc reporting requests from leadership and clinicians, navigating existing data and reports, and testing the reports produced.

Responsibilities

• Administer the SON‑built SQL Server environment.
• Perform manual testing of SQL Server objects and queries (≈30% of responsibilities).
• Execute queries and develop/run SSRS reports.
• Respond to ad‑hoc requests for specific reports and data sets from leadership and clinicians.
• Navigate existing data and reports to fulfill reporting needs.
• Test the reports you run to ensure accuracy.
• Assist with ongoing efforts to automate portions of the testing process.

Requirements

• Intermediate‑level experience with SQL Server administration and querying.
• Strong ability to perform manual testing within SQL Server.
• Basic experience with SQL development and testing of reports.
• Familiarity with SSRS report development and creation.
• Experience writing and executing SQL queries.
• Knowledge of Visual Basic and C#.NET (Visual Studio exposure is a plus).
• Ability to work in a contract‑to‑hire arrangement based in Rochester, NY.
