What You'll Do

As a Test Developer, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and editing assessments for Ascend Learning. As a Test Developer, you must ensure that each assessment meets the specifications defined by stakeholders while also ensuring product quality and on-time delivery. Coordination across various departments is required to develop content, ensure content validity, communicate progress, and resolve issues. As a Test Developer, you must maintain the company’s internal database and records to create and deliver assessments. The Test Developer is also responsible for beta testing assessments for quality and end-user functionality.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • Use an internal database to create and maintain assessments (high stakes, low stakes, and certification) to predetermined specifications while meeting established deadlines and coordinating with cross-functional teams, including psychometrics, content experts, media development, and project management.
  • Responsible for documenting assembly tasks in detail, building tests, performing testing in a production environment, and coordinating to ensure that all issues are resolved before final product release.
  • Copyedit products to ensure consistency with company standards.
  • Understand the various steps within the test development process, why they are performed, and when they should be modified. Use this knowledge to contribute to process modification and/or the resolution of customer support inquiries.
  • Assist manager to coordinate with IT teams to create, test, and release new functionality, prevent incidents, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Provide administration and management of internal databases.
  • Prepare pretest items and perform pretest rotations as needed to maintain bank health.
  • Analyze assigned item bank and identify item development targets for content experts.

  • A high school diploma or GED required. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of editing experience required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills using available resources.
  • A desire to take accountability of projects and quality.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • A knowledge of editing and proofreading.
  • The ability to follow instructions carefully and thoroughly.
  • An aptitude for organizing and prioritizing work while directing own activities.
  • A desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
