Test Automation Lead (Sign On Bonus Available)
About the role
Join BAE Systems’ Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions (CEMA) business area and lead the development of the next-generation RF software for the P-8A Poseidon Self-Protection (P8-ASP) program. Building on a $95 million U.S. Navy contract, you will help shape a capability of strategic importance—BAE’s electronic-warfare solution that detects, exploits, and counters advanced missile threats.
As the Test Automation lead for the P-8A Poseidon Self-Protection (P8-ASP) program, you will drive the development of a robust, automated test framework that verifies the integration of the software and requirements throughout the pod. This ensures the pod’s early-threat detection and countermeasure functions meet stringent airworthiness, effectiveness, and rapid-modernization requirements for the Poseidon and future high-value airborne assets.
In this position, you will design, develop, and maintain a Python-based integration-test suite that exercises the full end-to-end signal-processing chain on real hardware and in simulated environments. You will create reusable test libraries, CI/CD pipelines, and automated reporting mechanisms that enable rapid regression testing across multiple software releases. While Python is the primary language, familiarity with C++ and Ada will allow you to extend test harnesses into low-level firmware and leveraged code bases, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the pod’s open-architecture components.
Leveraging Agile and DevSecOps practices, you will work closely with systems, hardware, and software engineers to embed test automation early in the development lifecycle, reducing integration risk and accelerating time-to-production. As the Test Automation lead, you will collaborate with the U.S. Navy and other customer sites, traveling as needed to support on-site integration, troubleshoot issues, and conduct acceptance testing. You will present test results and risk assessments at customer interchange meetings, mentor junior test engineers, and champion best-in-class verification processes across the program.
By delivering a scalable, maintainable automation framework, you will help safeguard the Poseidon crew, extend mission capability, and uphold BAE Systems’ mission—We Protect Those Who Protect Us®. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of electronic-warfare testing on a high-impact, long-term program with strong funding and strategic importance.
