About the role

The Social Security Administration is seeking passionate Test Automation Engineers to join our innovative technology team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts using cutting-edge tools like Selenium, Cucumber, and more. The ideal candidate should have experience in implementing Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices, developing and executing API tests, and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, and other automation platforms.
  • Implement Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices, including crafting test scenarios in Gherkin syntax.
  • Develop and execute API tests with Parasoft and Ready API to ensure seamless integration and performance.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Git and leading automation platforms.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA team members to ensure comprehensive test coverage and alignment with requirements.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues quickly.
  • Document test plans, test cases, and test results to maintain transparency and quality standards.
  • Continuously improve test automation frameworks, processes, and best practices to stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing feedback on testability and overall quality.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in test automation and quality assurance.
  • Identify and implement AI-driven enhancements in test automation, such as intelligent test case prioritization, automated defect classification, and adaptive test maintenance.
  • Assess existing testing processes and propose AI-powered solutions to increase automation, reduce manual effort, and improve overall system performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to pilot and adopt AI-based tools for test automation and quality assurance.

Requirements

This position requires specialized experience in automated software testing, with a focus on BDD and proficiency in Selenium, Gherkin, and Cucumber. Experience with Parasoft and Ready API, and integration with CI/CD tools and processes (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS DevOps) is also essential. Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is required. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, along with strong written and verbal communication abilities, are necessary.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-14 level, applicants must have specialized experience at the GS-13 level, demonstrating competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, and Oral Communication. To qualify for the GS-15 level, applicants must have specialized experience at the GS-14 level, demonstrating additional competencies in Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement, and Expert Feedback.

Skills

Experience with Selenium, Cucumber, Gherkin, Parasoft, Ready API, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is required. Proficiency in BDD practices, API testing, performance and load testing, and AI-driven testing solutions is preferred.
