Territory Account Executive , Retail - Salem, VA

About the role

Toast is expanding its POS platform into new food and beverage concepts, including convenience stores, grocery stores, and bottle shops. As a Retail Account Executive, you will join a founding team building the Toast Retail platform. You’ll use a consultative approach to prospect, build relationships, and sign new accounts in an assigned geographic territory, helping these businesses thrive with a customized solution.

Responsibilities

• Prospect, build relationships, and sign up new convenience stores, grocery stores, and bottle shops using a consultative sales approach.
• Generate lists of prospective accounts and manage the entire sales cycle from initial call to close.
• Conduct demos and develop tailored solutions that meet each prospect’s unique needs.
• Partner with internal teams to ensure expectations set during the sales process are met in delivery.
• Leverage Salesforce (our CRM) to manage all sales activities.
• Understand the competitive landscape and position Toast effectively in the market.

Requirements

• Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills with the ability to sell and negotiate at all decision-making levels.
• Proven track record of success in meeting and exceeding sales goals.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented environment.
• Self-motivated, creative, flexible, and willing to navigate ambiguity.
• Lives in or near the assigned market with a willingness to travel 25% or more.

Pay

Total Targeted Cash for this role ranges from $115,000—$185,000 USD, including base salary, commission, and bonus (if eligible). This role qualifies for uncapped commissions. Starting salary is determined by skills, experience, and geographic location. Pay is aligned with local labor markets—see our Geographic Pay Zone Philosophy for details.
