JOB SUMMARY
The Terrain Park Groomer/Builder is responsible for assisting the Terrain Park Manager and Grooming Manager with the design, construction, and maintenance of terrain park features. This position ensures that terrain parks are safe, visually appealing, and enjoyable for all guests by performing nightly grooming, equipment operation, and snow management.
Qualifications
- ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS:
- Collaborate with the Terrain Park Manager and Grooming Manager to design, construct, and maintain terrain park features.
- Perform nightly grooming to maintain smooth, consistent surfaces, including takeoffs, landings, and transitions.
- Manage snow movement and counteract effects of gravity, weather, and skier traffic.
- Build, reshape, and maintain features of all sizes, ensuring flow, safety, and fun for riders.
- Operate grooming machines (including winch cats) and safely move snowmaking equipment.
- Refresh and repair park features, including lips, decks, jibs, and landings, with minimal hand finishing required.
- Install, remove, and adjust terrain park features to meet design specifications.
- Ensure snow farming areas are maintained efficiently and free of waste.
- Support the alpine grooming team as needed.
- SKILLS PREFERRED (OR REQUIRED):
- Cat Operations (Required): Minimum of 4 years’ experience operating grooming equipment.
- Terrain Park Building (Required): At least 2 years of proven ability to construct and maintain a variety of features.
- Winch Operation (Preferred): Skilled in winch cat use and large-scale snow movement.
- Snowmaking Knowledge (Preferred): Understanding of snow production and management.
- Technical Skills (Preferred): Google SketchUp, welding, or other construction-related skills.
- Communication Skills: Ability to read safety rules, follow instructions, and document work clearly.
- EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 4+ years of grooming machine operation experience.
- 2+ years of terrain park building experience.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License required.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This role requires extended periods of sitting, standing, climbing, and operating heavy machinery in cold, snowy conditions.
- Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and occasionally 100 lbs or more.
- Good vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment are required.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed outdoors in winter mountain conditions, including exposure to extreme cold, snow, wind, and low visibility.
- Terrain Park Groomer/Builders operate near fixed objects, on steep slopes, and in noisy environments.
- The pace of work is fast and often requires independent decision-making and close coordination with other team members.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Seeing: REGULARLY - Must be able to read reports and use computer
- Hearing: REGULARLY - Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers.
- Standing/Walking: REGULARLY - Consistent and constant standing and walking while in operation.
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: REGULARLY - The position requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and crouch for extended periods.
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: REGULARLY - Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
