About the role

The position includes teaching in our nationally ranked graduate and professional nursing programs. The 11-month appointment is an on-campus, in-person position located in Bryan-College Station.

Responsibilities

  • Assume a leadership role in graduate and professional programs. Lead and manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of the graduate and professional programs in a collaborative approach with the Executive Associate Dean, other leaders, and faculty.

  • Lead and oversee operations that support the graduate and professional program options and sites.

  • Provide for faculty development in curriculum, assessment, evaluation, and pedagogy.

  • Assign faculty workload in collaboration with the Executive Associate Dean and other College of Nursing leaders.

  • Manage course schedules with course and program coordinators.

  • Conduct annual reviews with faculty and support their professional development.

  • Collaborate with academic leaders to oversee graduate and professional program guidelines for the College of Nursing.

  • Assure adequacy of physical and fiscal resources that support the graduate and professional programs.

  • Provide educational consultation to faculty regarding the development of courses.

  • Collaborate with other leaders in the College of Nursing, TAMU, Health Science Center, academic clinical partners, and stakeholders within the local community.

  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of faculty.

  • Collaborate to assure quality student enrollment, retention, program completion, licensure, and certification success initiatives.

  • In partnership with Student Affairs and faculty, assure that policies support high quality student recruitment, admissions, and progression in the graduate and professional program options.

  • Create academic reports such as those required for: Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Texas Board of Nursing (TBON), and Texas A&M System.

  • Monitor program outcomes such as licensure and certification exam pass rates, program completion rates, employment rates, former student satisfaction, and employer satisfaction.

  • Create a positive and supportive working and learning environment.

  • Serve as a role model for innovation, collaboration, and consensus-building.

  • Represent the College of Nursing on university committees and task forces related to academic issues.

  • Chair graduate faculty meetings and serve as an ex-officio member of other College of Nursing standing committees as determined by the Executive Associate Dean.

  • Serve on the College of Nursing Executive Council.

  • Address stakeholder concerns in a timely and professional manner.

  • Assume a leadership role in the University, discipline, and profession of nursing.

  • Promote and advance the nursing profession and the Texas A&M College of Nursing locally, regionally, and nationally.

  • Participate in professional organizations at a level expected for an academic leader.

  • Build and maintain professional working relations with College of Nursing stakeholders.

  • Seek funding opportunities for academic programs.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in nursing or a PhD in a closely related field with a master’s degree in nursing.

  • Six years related professional experience in academic nursing education.

  • Leadership experience in nursing education, curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Five years as a full-time faculty member in a college or College of Nursing that offers graduate and professional program education.

  • Experience with nursing education accreditation, compliance with clinical agency requirements, and regulation by state boards of nursing.

  • A history of leadership in nursing education that includes clinical and classroom settings.

Skills

  • Organizational skills and effective interpersonal skills including the ability to lead others collaboratively.

  • Evidence of academic scholarship, leadership capability, and ability to work effectively with interprofessional groups.

  • Effective verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
