Tenure-Track Faculty: Phlebotomy

About the Role

Full-time tenure-track faculty position in Phlebotomy within the College's Health Sciences division. This is a 9-month position anticipated to begin Spring 2027. There is an optional additional assignment as the Course Coordinator.

This position is based in Central Illinois and requires in-person, on-campus presence. The role may include teaching at a variety of sites across the multi-campus college.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses, including class preparation, grading, and holding office hours
• Create a learning environment that fosters student success and the attainment of defined learning outcomes
• Participate in developing and reviewing curricula and instructional methods
• Assist in the articulation of courses within the division
• Develop, integrate, and evaluate student learning outcomes within the framework of the College’s assessment protocols
• Remain current in one’s discipline
• Advocate for student persistence and pathways to completion through cooperation with Student Success and Enrollment Services staff
• Manage student issues and problems in a manner consistent with the Student Handbook
• Serve the institution through participation on teams and committees, assistance with marketing and recruitment events, and promotion of a collegial work environment
• Participate in program review

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher in a related health field
• At least one of the following:
  • Licensure or certification in a related field from a certified phlebotomist agency such as:
    • American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
    • National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
    • National Phlebotomy Association
  • Certified or Registered Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA/RMA)
  • Licensed registered nurse (RN)
• Minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience as a phlebotomist technician or in a directly related field
• Availability to teach daytime and/or evening courses
• Ability to work effectively and inclusively with diverse populations of students, colleagues, and community partners
• Authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. (sponsorship is not available)

Desired Qualifications

• National Phlebotomy Instructor Certificate
• Teaching, training, supervision, or mentoring experience
• Curriculum development experience
• Experience with instructional technology
• Experience supporting or collaborating with healthcare partners
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

Pay

Anticipated starting salary range for this 9-month position is $48,356 - $65,034, plus any applicable pay for overload and/or summer assignments.
