Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Theoretical or Computational Physics

College of the Holy Cross’s Department of Physics seeks a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in theoretical or computational physics to begin in August 2027.

About the role

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research, help implement best teaching practices, thoughtfully integrate emerging technologies like AI into the physics curriculum, and expand the variety of physics electives. They will also involve undergraduates in meaningful research projects, contribute to the physics curriculum at all levels, and help students develop key academic and professional skills. No lab space is available for this position.

Teaching load & leave

• 3-2 teaching load
• Research leave prior to tenure review: either a full year at 80% salary or a semester at full salary
• Generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty
• One-course reduction in the first year of teaching (i.e., 2-2)
