About the Role
St. Hugh of Grenoble Catholic Church in Greenbelt, Maryland is seeking a Tenor Section Leader for a small church choir, beginning September 2, 2026. The section leader will also participate in a smaller ensemble of skilled singers preparing more difficult repertoire throughout the season, with some solo opportunities. This position is both professional and pastoral, requiring respect for and support of less able volunteer choir members.
Responsibilities
- Lead the tenor section in a small church choir
- Participate in a smaller ensemble of skilled singers for advanced repertoire
- Perform solo opportunities as they arise
- Support and mentor volunteer choir members
Requirements
- Good sight-reading skills
- Pleasant voice
- Patience
Schedule
- Rehearsals: Wednesday evenings, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM (beginning September 2, 2026)
- Mass: Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM, call time 10:30 AM (beginning September 13, 2026)
- Season: Runs through the Solemnity of Corpus Christi (May 30, 2027)
- Break: Four weeks between the Christmas season and Ash Wednesday (2027)
- Required Masses: Christmas night and day, Ash Wednesday evening, Palm Sunday, Paschal Triduum, and Easter Sunday
- Additional evening Masses may be possible
Pay
- Rehearsal stipend: $40
- Mass stipend: $70
