Tennis Coach - Claiborne High School

Core Job Responsibilities

• Counsels players on tennis fundamentals, footwork, singles/doubles strategies, and rules.
• Maintains compliance with TSSAA Handbook Tennis Regulations, especially regarding continuous court-side coaching behavior.
• Maintains academic eligibility of student-athletes by tracking their progress.
• Supervises student-athletes at all practices and matches, ensuring valid physical forms are on file and implementing weather/heat safety policies.

Mandatory Qualifications & Certifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Background Check: Comprehensive Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) criminal fingerprint background check and Department of Children's Services (DCS) clearance required.
• Health & Safety Certifications: Active CPR and First Aid certifications are mandatory.
• State-Mandated Safety Courses: Annual NFHS Learn courses covering Concussion in Sports, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Heat Illness Prevention are required.
• Special Non-Faculty Requirements: Completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching and First Aid, Health, and Safety for Coaches courses is necessary if not a full-time certified teacher.

Employment Type & Compensation

• Schedule: Temporary, seasonal position focusing heavily on the spring semester. Practices and match events require significant after-school and weekend commitments.
• Compensation: Stipend supplement for teachers who fill the role, and a flat, single-season athletic stipend for non-faculty coaches determined by the local board of education's athletic supplement scale.
