Temporary Technician (Ferguson)
About the role
The main responsibilities will include assistance in the routine analysis of environmental samples, including assisting with the operation and maintenance of lab equipment (i.e., ICP-MS, ICP-OES, XRD, XRF, etc.). The incumbent will ensure compliance with all QA/QC and health and safety procedures and assist in the general day-to-day running of the laboratory. Other duties may include assistance in the preparation of research manuscripts and reports for funding institutions. The job may involve handling and analysis of radionuclides. Additional job specific training will be provided as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Routine chemical analysis of environmental samples
- Operation and maintenance of analytical instrumentation, XRD, ICP-MS, FT-IR, etc.
- Assistance in the general day-to-day running of the laboratory
- Assistance in preparation of research proposals and reports submitted to funding institutions
Requirements
Physical Demands: Limited work outside maintaining environmental monitoring equipment and soil sampling. Driving as needed per job duties.
