Summary
At Communities In Schools, our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. This position involves the planning and implementation of the Communities In Schools model of integrated student supports in collaboration with building staff at identified schools.
Responsibilities
- Work with school administrators, staff, teachers, full-service community partners, and CIS leadership to build upon existing strategies and leverage new opportunities.
- Provide whole school supports aligned with identified school goals.
- Assess community, school, and student assets and needs to collaboratively develop an annual CIS site plan.
- Implement and coordinate the annual site plan strategies, including periodic monitoring and adjusting services as necessary.
- Maintain frequent communication with building leadership regarding activities and progress towards goals.
- Conduct home visits to case managed students as necessary.
- Build and maintain local formal and informal community partnerships to facilitate access to needed resources.
- Serve as a broader community resource by sharing information and supporting school-focused activities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of school-wide and targeted strategies through a systematic data collection process.
- Maintain a positive image by understanding and demonstrating the CIS mission, goals, and initiatives.
- Develop and participate in local and regional community agency partnerships and resources.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of relevant work experience; AA degree with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong relationship-building skills, particularly with disengaged youth and their families.
- Demonstrated experience working with youth, knowledge of and passion for youth development.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school staff, students, parents, community partners, and the public.
- Ability to work with people of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Resourceful – able to identify multiple solutions to presenting issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Must have a record of being punctual and maintaining regular attendance.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Valid Washington state driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and proof of adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
- Ability to move 25 lbs on an occasional basis.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
