Temporary Seasonal Laborer

About the role

General laborer and groundskeeping duties, including mowing, digging holes, removing weeds, trimming, transporting materials and equipment on trucks.

Responsibilities

• Dig holes for shrubs and trees; rake dirt, grass, leaves and clean up litter from lawns and shrubs.
• Load trucks with dirt, leaves, rubbish, etc.
• Move furniture, office equipment; set up tables, chairs and scaffolds, etc. for events.
• Load materials and equipment on trucks for transport to work areas.
• Assist tradesmen by carrying material, operating jackhammer and digging holes.
• May work on road repair.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Must be available to work overtime.
• Must be able to work under extreme weather conditions.
• Must be flexible in scheduling.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• Must be able to drive a University vehicle and pass the Safety Department’s regulations.
• Repetitive standing, bending, stooping, crawling, walking.
• Daily lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Pushing, pulling and working in extreme outdoor temperatures.

Tools & Equipment

• Operate hand power tools such as lawn mowers, weed trimmers, jackhammers, etc.
• Use a variety of hand tools including rakes, etc.
