Temporary Nature Center Weekend Assistant
About the Role
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is hiring a Temporary, seasonal Recreation Assistant within our Nature Preserves and Natural Resources Division. This position will be based at Quest at Latta Nature Preserve and will assist staff in providing nature programming and ensuring a positive customer experience for all visitors. Additionally, the role involves assisting with overall operations of the facility as needed.
This temporary position will work weekends only during the fall, specifically Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. By applying to this position, you are eligible to be considered for similar roles at other Park and Recreation locations if they become available.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service and handle funds in a park facility through telephone, emails, website, social media, and in-person interactions for information, program registration, center daily use, and rentals.
- Ensure the safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary.
- Enforce rules and regulations.
- Collect fees and take registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals.
- Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas.
- Assist with various recreational programs for all ages.
- Handle inquiries and complaints from the public.
- Assist with special events and field trips.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

Schedule
