First Realty Management is seeking a Temporary Maintenance Technician for a property in Acton, MA.

About the role

This individual should be skilled in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, boilers, and general maintenance. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, and includes on-call responsibilities for emergencies such as weather-related incidents. The ideal candidate will promote and maintain good resident relations, effectively prioritize and organize maintenance and administrative work, and communicate effectively with employees, site staff, residents, vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn software programs such as Microsoft Outlook, ADP, and Vantaca is required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for inventory control and purchasing in conjunction with the manager.
  • Meets and communicates with site managers regularly to update each other on on-site issues.
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities for unforeseen emergencies, including weather-related incidents.
  • Works with manager to coordinate contracts and oversee contractor activities.
  • Responds to daily emergencies and routine service work orders in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintains the appearance of the site by collecting and discarding refuse from common areas daily.
  • Performs preventative maintenance per site requirements.
  • Maintains a clean and well-groomed appearance, wearing company-issued uniforms.
  • Is courteous to residents at all times.

Requirements

  • Ability to respond effectively to site emergencies.
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, general repair, and maintenance duties.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to arrive at the site promptly to respond to emergencies.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use First Realty computer programs.
  • Ability to fill out and complete work orders accurately.
  • Effective communication with site staff and residents.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Safe operation of power tools, such as saws and drills.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical before starting work.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a driving record in good standing.
