About the role

Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations
- Inspect the facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor
- Complete records and reports
- Participate in regular inservice training sessions
- Maintain fitness levels (swimming skills, strength and endurance)
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Schedule
Year-round, 6:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; shifts range from 2–5 hours; typically 10–15 hours per week.
Qualifications
- Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
- Leadership, public relations, and decision-making skills
- Understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
- Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Certification and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification are preferred
Lifeguard training is available for those who do not meet the minimum qualifications; a registration fee applies.
Pay
$17.50/hour
