About the role

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies
• Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations
• Inspect the facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor
• Complete records and reports
• Participate in regular inservice training sessions
• Maintain fitness levels (swimming skills, strength and endurance)
• Complete additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

Schedule

Year-round, 6:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; shifts range from 2–5 hours; typically 10–15 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
• Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
• Leadership, public relations, and decision-making skills
• Understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
• Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Certification and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification are preferred

Lifeguard training is available for those who do not meet the minimum qualifications; a registration fee applies.

Pay

$17.50/hour
