Temporary Lab Technician- BCC PostBacc Program
The BCC PostBacc Program at the University of Louisville’s Health Sciences Center seeks a temporary laboratory technician to support the Chen Mechanobiology Laboratory. This position is a fixed-term role from August 17, 2026, to August 14, 2027.
About the Role
The laboratory technician will oversee daily operations, manage a team of researchers, develop policies, maintain equipment, manage budgets, train new staff, and support research projects. They will also fabricate biomaterials, conduct microfluidics, perform molecular biology assays, and analyze cells and tissues.
Responsibilities
- Oversee laboratory operations to ensure safety and compliance with protocols.
- Guide and support graduate and undergraduate researchers.
- Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, arrange for repairs and replacements.
- Monitor and enforce regulatory requirements and quality standards.
- Manage laboratory budgets, procure materials, and allocate resources.
- Train and mentor new laboratory staff.
- Seek opportunities for process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a scientific discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory safety and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in budgeting and financial management.
Qualifications
- Preferentially graduated within 36 months with a GPA >3.0.
- Strong interest in pursuing a PhD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory safety and regulatory requirements.
