Temporary Fitness Center General Manager

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated temporary General Manager for a high-profile company’s fitness center in New York, NY. This is a full-time, temporary role where you will oversee all operations, staffing, revenue, expense goals, and marketing. You will also assist in program planning, promotion, and staffing while acting as a liaison between the company and the client.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to set the tone and personality of the site, making it a motivating and engaging workplace.
• Implement product capabilities, programs, and marketing for member engagement.
• Handle human capital responsibilities, including hiring, coaching, motivating, scheduling, training, developing, evaluating, and terminating team members.
• Respond to members’ feedback and concerns professionally while ensuring excellent customer service.
• Provide recurring reports to direct leadership.
• Ensure the team delivers gold-standard customer service and programming.
• Encourage professional development and enhance team retention.
• Implement and follow policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 2–3 years of management experience.
• Strong multi-tasking, time management, problem-solving, organization, and follow-up skills.
• Experience hiring, coaching, training, and developing team members.
• Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic business planning.
• Prior experience in a corporate fitness or spa setting.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and finance/payroll systems.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $22 to $40, based on education, work experience, certifications, geographic differentials, and business needs. In addition to the hourly rate, Plus One offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
