About the Role

The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) is accepting applications for a pool of part-time faculty positions to support undergraduate programs in Ceramics for the 2026-2027 academic year. These positions are on an as-needed, semester-by-semester basis.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ceramics at all levels, providing students with foundational to intermediate knowledge of clay, including hand-building techniques, wheel throwing, and surface decoration.
  • Operate electric and gas kilns, including loading, unloading, and firing.
  • Mix and reclaim clay, and mix glazes.
  • Ensure the ceramics studio runs smoothly and safely, including coordinating studio and equipment clean-up and maintenance with students and faculty.
  • Teach in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) as assigned, based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Master of Fine Arts degree in Art or a related subject with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Art or Ceramics.
  • Classroom instruction experience in higher education.

Skills

  • Engaging customer service and ability to support diverse university constituencies.
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office, Google applications, and other position-specific software.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational, and human relations skills.
  • Adherence to university policies and procedures to meet institutional goals and support the university’s mission for student success.
