Temporary Employment Services (TES) Financial Analysts perform a variety of analytical functions for multiple departments during the course of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Contract and grant fiscal and administrative management
  • Manage department income and expense contracts
  • Review prepared budgets and make recommendations for changes and necessary corrections
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to produce a sound audit trail
  • Review and monitor budget plans once approved
  • Prepare faculty and staff payroll expenditure transfers
  • Prepare cost recovery plans
  • Independently provide high-level financial management and analysis

Requirements

  • Advanced spreadsheet, word-processing, database, presentation, and e-mail software skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to design user-friendly accounting reports
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and/or private grant administration, analysis, and financial reporting policies
  • Experience performing analytical work, analyzing complex information, performing independent research, and presenting complex data in a way that facilitates decision-making
  • Experience making strategic recommendations
  • Experience preparing financial reports and developing financial projections (long and short term)
  • Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and University accounting policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of financial and payroll systems (including Decision Support and UC Path), or similarly complex administrative systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to establish goals, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work assignments and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to present and communicate technical and non-technical information clearly and effectively to a variety of individuals
  • Demonstrated experience exercising administrative judgment and assuming responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results impacting people, costs, and/or quality of service
  • Ability to complete tasks accurately, neatly, and quickly under pressure of deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Flexibility and willingness to accept temporary assignments regardless of classification and/or pay rate
  • Ability to learn quickly and multitask
  • Prior experience managing a portfolio of external grants and contracts
  • Experience with contracts and grants financial systems such as Cayuse and Effort Reporting
  • Prior experience with UC Davis financial systems
  • Skill to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities to effect project completion within stated deadlines
  • Experience working directly with faculty and ability to maintain respect and confidentiality

About the Assignment

  • Assignments can last from a month to two years depending on the position and department need
  • Job duties and pay rates vary by assignment
  • May require occasional overtime, evenings, and/or weekends
  • Positions require a background check and may require a pre-placement medical exam
  • Must complete mandatory training within 15 days from start date of first assignment
  • Assignments at UC Davis Health require completion of HIPAA Privacy and Security Training prior to placement
  • A valid California Driver’s License may be required for some assignments
  • UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco-free campus

Pay

  • Pay rates vary depending on classification and level (e.g., Financial Analyst 1: $30.98/hr, Financial Analyst 2: $37.52/hr)
  • Most assignments pay biweekly, though exceptions exist

Schedule

  • Percentage of time: 50-100%
  • Shift hours vary, though most assignments are during standard business hours
  • Location varies (Sacramento or Davis)

Work Environment
