Temporary Art Teacher

About the role

The Art Teacher will work with students across multiple age groups and ability levels, adapting lessons to meet individual needs while fostering creativity, confidence, and self-expression through visual art.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate art lessons tailored to the students' needs and developmental capacity
• Adapt instruction and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles, sensory needs, and motor abilities
• Create a supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff to align art instruction with the school's DIRFloortime® principles
• Maintain a safe and organized art classroom and manage supplies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Special Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
• Experience working with children with special needs and/or autism strongly preferred
• Understanding of sensory-sensitive teaching strategies and differentiated instruction
• Strong classroom management skills with a calm, patient, and empathetic approach
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Schedule

Monday, Thursday, Friday- 8-3:30, Tuesday, Wednesday- 8-4:30
