Tempo del Creato 2025: “Pace con il Creato”
About the role
The Diocesan Commissions for Social and Labor Pastoral Care and for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue, together with the School Pastoral Service, are organizing two environmental-awareness initiatives in collaboration with the Parco del Serio.
These initiatives are part of the annual “Season of Creation” (1 September – 4 October) and coincide with the 10th anniversary of the encyclical Laudato si’, celebrated at the conference “Increasing Hope” (1–3 October).
Initiatives
-
“Foresta maestra” – Tree-planting for Primary and Lower-Secondary Schools
Tuesday 23 September, starting at 9:30 a.m.
- Gathering at Casa di Camperia, viale S. Maria
- Ecological walk along the river to the Chiappa bequest area in Parco Chiappa
- Planting of approximately 100 potted saplings in the “Bosco delle scuole”
- Return to Casa di Camperia for an ecumenical prayer service (open participation) around 11:30 a.m.
-
Interactive Workshop – “Peace with Creation” for Upper-Secondary Students
Thursday 25 September, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Sala Alessandrini
An engaging session led by Prof. Basilio Monaci (President of Parco del Serio), Architect Laura Comandulli (Director), and Dr. Ivan Bonfanti (Head of Ecology and Environment).
Students will reflect on repairing broken relationships—between humanity and Earth, among creatures, and with God—to foster lasting peace. The 2025 theme, inspired by the prophet Isaiah, uses the “Garden of Peace” symbol: a dove flying from a barren landscape toward a flourishing one, carrying an olive branch.
Logistics
Schools were first notified on 23 May and reminded on 27 August to include the initiatives in their 2025–26 planning. Interested schools are asked to confirm the number of participating classes or students by Wednesday 17 September.
