This position is responsible for entry-level non-skilled general labor or equipment maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Roles may be located in any area of Fresh Processing, including DSI, Debone, Deli lines, and Evisceration.
Responsibilities
- Push, pull, carry, and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work in damp, cold, or hot environments, and reach above shoulder level.
- Stand 8-10 hours a day on hard surfaces and perform repetitive motion.
- Climb up and down stairs to access work areas.
- Wear required PPE: frocks, gloves, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net, and beard guard.
- Use knives, scissors, saws, or skinner machines for product processing (where applicable).
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and company assets.
- Monitor equipment during production and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Document corrections and perform preventive maintenance on weekends.
- Rebuild equipment and assist with installation of new equipment.
- Assist with maintenance throughout the facility as required.
- Grease, change oil, and clean various plant equipment manually.
- Monitor equipment and computer boards; troubleshoot mechanical problems using schematics and blueprints.
- Work other shifts when necessary and comply with OSHA standards.
- Follow Safety Rules, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Work closely with other maintenance personnel to exchange job-related information.
- Handle fragile devices requiring precise attention.
- Perform all other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Capable of moving equipment or machinery in excess of 40 pounds.
- Able to work on and inspect equipment involving bending, turning, stooping, twisting, and climbing.
- Able to move freely throughout the plant over and around equipment, people, and obstacles.
- Tolerate climates ranging from very cold to very hot and from very wet to very dry.
- Communicate and work well with others.
- Able to climb ladders and work overhead.
- Able to reach, lift, and perform tasks for the duration of the shift (walking, standing, or sitting).
- Complete mandatory online training.
- Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Provide government identification number for Tyson employment history verification.
- Adhere to rehire criteria: minimum 180-day waiting period and no more than 3 prior employments at Tyson Foods.
Pay
Base pay range: $17.00 per hour. Additional compensation may be available based on shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonuses.
Schedule
2nd shift (United States). Weekend work (Saturday and Sunday) is required.
