About the role
We are looking for Temp Shipping Clerks to prepare daily card shipments for secured carriers, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality plastic secured cards according to customer specifications and company quality objectives.
Responsibilities
- Accurately pack and ship finished cards based on customer job ticket requirements.
- Understand all product shipping requirements, including international shipping and customs paperwork (e.g., pro-forma invoices).
- Operate and maintain shipping equipment (carton labeling system, card counter, shrink wrap machine, shipping tools) and perform minor preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Report major mechanical defects to the Shipping Clerk Lead and/or Maintenance.
- Prepare packing lists for production jobs and daily non-void shipments, including customer-required paperwork supplied by Client Services, and ship through FedEx.
- Ensure all packing lists and data entered into Monarch are timely and accurate, updating Monarch as needed.
- Stock and manage department supplies (materials, product carts, boxes, cartons) and notify the Shipping Clerk Lead of inventory needs.
- Adhere to CPI security requirements, including counting and documenting all cards to and from the shipping department (Audit Trail Procedure).
- Maintain cleanliness in the product shipping area.
- Provide timely feedback to management regarding service failures or customer concerns.
- Comply with ISO 9001:2000 certification for all areas of responsibility.
- Follow all company procedures, rules, and customer-mandated security procedures.
- Conduct yourself in a respectful and professional manner with a focus on teamwork, quality, and timeliness.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- Up to 1 year of experience using assembly, inspection, and shipping equipment.
- Good math skills to compute percentages, weights, and measures.
- Strong organizational and detail skills to set up equipment, check product quality, and meet customer deadlines.
- Ability to operate Windows-based personal computers.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow and interpret written and oral instructions and specifications.
- Security and safety-oriented mindset.
- Reliability through good attendance, punctuality, and cooperation.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Physical Demands
- Primarily standing for up to 12 hours per shift, with frequent walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs.
- Moving "roll around carts" weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Working at a desk with personal computers, telephones, and fax equipment.
- Exposure to manufacturing areas with higher noise levels, potentially requiring ear protection.
- Dealing with multiple details in a fast-paced environment, which can be mentally and physically tiring.
- Good eyesight and full use of hands/fingers for precision equipment, tools, or instruments requiring deft movements to maintain safety.
- Shift work, with potential overtime to meet deadlines.
