Temp to Hire Material Handler Forklift

About the Role

Responsible for maintaining a safe and quality operation with a proficient understanding of loading, unloading, and moving raw materials within the plant and warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Amcor Rigid Plastics Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate workflow with other material handlers.
  • Operates a lift truck in a safe and proficient manner, for up to a 12-hour period.
  • Supply Production Department with the necessary raw materials, as needed.
  • Remove finished goods from production area and put production tickets on pallets and store in proper warehouse location.
  • Tag finished product and be knowledgeable of required materials.
  • Stack finished product in warehouse in a neat manner.
  • Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
  • Must be able to work safely and in a very tight production area.
  • Must willingly accept any other duties or changes to position to fit the needs for production as requested by Material Handler Lead and/or Supervisor.
  • Must wear safety equipment and personal protective equipment as required in the area or to perform specific job duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some post-secondary education preferred (i.e., technical or vocational education).
  • Forklift certification.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of previous work experience in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • SAP experience is preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values and enter this information into an online database accurately.
  • Ensure all customer paperwork is documented correctly to avoid delayed shipments.
  • Strong mathematical ability.
  • Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other visual defects.
  • Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.
  • Ability to make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.
  • Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move, lift, push, and pull on a continual basis; this is a physically demanding job as outlined by the U.S. Department of Labor.
  • Required to transport loads in the warehouse(s).
  • Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Co-worker Handbook and in accordance with Amcor’s Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and supervision.
  • Properly uses all required personal protective equipment.
  • Perform all good housekeeping assignments.
