Assemblers at Wabash perform a variety of tasks that may differ by location, including installing subassemblies, assembling component parts, operating rivet punchers, and applying decals.

Responsibilities

  • Own and help improve performance in Safety, Quality, and Delivery
  • Maintain a hazard-free work area
  • Measure, cut, and caulk materials
  • Install rivets and operate heavy machinery
  • Install truck bed flooring
  • Follow decal templates and blueprints
  • Install signs, reflectors, fenders, mud flaps, and other associated parts
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or coordinator, which may include assisting in different departments
  • Wear approved personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, respirators, and hearing protection
  • Complete duties in accordance with safety policies and practices, ensuring personal and co-worker safety as well as safe equipment use

Requirements

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Basic reading, writing, and verbal skills

Experience and education are a plus but not required. Wabash provides comprehensive training for all assembler positions, including orientation and several days of preparation for the production floor.

Working Conditions

The role involves constant attention to safety, environmental, and health concerns. Employees may be exposed to:

  • Fumes or airborne particles
  • Moving mechanical parts and vibrations
  • Extreme conditions, including loud noise and high temperatures

All production floor employees must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle, and operate tools for the entire shift
  • Full range of motion in arms and hands, with the ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees
  • Frequent work in small spaces and lifting/carrying objects up to 50 pounds
  • Close vision and ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination
