About the role

The City of Spokane invites applicants for the position of Temp Seasonal - Technical Services Specialist. This temporary seasonal position is intended to supplement Information Technology operations during periods of increased workload, special projects, equipment deployment cycles or other temporary operational needs and is not intended to replace or supplant permanent classified positions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support and assistance in a formal or informal help desk setting to users with common hardware and software needs and problems.
  • Affords both locally and remotely. Trages and responds to incoming service requests.
  • Logs, troubleshoots, tests, and resolves issues or refers problems to the appropriate Information Technology resource.
  • Serves as a liaison between user groups and the Information Technology unit to communicate problems and possible solutions.
  • Maintains detailed records including status and resolution of reported issues, software installation and licensing, inventory of equipment, specialized services for users, etc.
  • Maintains technical procedures, documentation, operational instructions and/or project or work order status.
  • Reads and understands technical or other complex materials required for the job.
  • Affords users with basic operation of City hardware and software.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and coursework in information technology, computer science, or a related field is preferred.

Benefits

Typical working conditions are moderately quiet but may include frequent exposure to computer noise. Duties may require travel to various City locations and some evening, weekend, holiday and/or on-call work.
