TEMP Registered Nurse - $50-55hr

About the Role

Red River Hospital, a private 96-bed acute psychiatric facility in Wichita Falls, TX, is seeking compassionate RNs for a temporary, full-time, 13-week nursing assignment. This is a direct temporary opportunity, not an agency contract, and does not include travel stipends or reimbursements. The role involves providing mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment to dedicated military personnel, adults, seniors, and adolescents (ages 12–17).

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately.
• Monitor patients’ status, document pertinent information, and notify physicians of significant changes.
• Complete initial nursing treatment plans upon admission and ensure all plans are specific to assessed needs.
• Administer medications accurately and document controlled substance administration.
• Assist with admission and discharge processing.
• Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Provide direction and coordinate unit activities as needed.
• Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, and co-workers.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or eligibility to practice nursing in the state.
• One year of nursing experience; previous psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance use nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification (training available upon hire).
• First aid certification may be required based on state or facility regulations.
• Availability for 3x12hr shifts per week, including rotating weekends.
• At least one year of behavioral health experience.

Pay

$50/hr for Day shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), $55/hr for Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).

Schedule

Full-time, 3x12hr shifts per week, with rotating weekends.
